Job Description
Iron Mountain is seeking a dedicated and reliable Shredding Machine Operator to join our secure data destruction team in Launceston. This entry-level role is perfect for individuals looking to start a career in secure information management, with full training provided. You will be responsible for operating industrial shredding machinery to securely destroy sensitive documents and media, ensuring the highest standards of confidentiality and compliance. This is a physically demanding role requiring attention to detail and a commitment to security protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate industrial shredding machinery safely and efficiently according to established procedures.
- Receive, sort, and prepare sensitive materials for destruction, verifying chain of custody.
- Ensure all materials are destroyed according to established security protocols and client specific requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of destroyed materials, including weights and timestamps.
- Perform routine maintenance checks and cleaning of shredding equipment.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety regulations and operational procedures.
- Assist with general warehouse duties, including loading and unloading, as needed.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow strict safety and security protocols without deviation.
- Basic mechanical aptitude to understand and operate machinery (full training provided).
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in record-keeping and material handling.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 25kg regularly and standing for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, production, or manufacturing environment is an advantage.
- A valid Australian driver's license.
- Forklift license or experience (preferred, but training can be provided for suitable candidates).
- An understanding of data privacy and confidentiality principles.
