Job Description

GFL Environmental Inc. in Montreal, QC, is excited to offer a unique opportunity for individuals ready to kickstart a career as a Sanitation Truck Driver. We are actively seeking motivated and reliable individuals to join our team as Sanitation Truck Driver Trainees. No prior experience is required! We provide comprehensive, fully paid training to help you obtain your Class 3 (or equivalent HGV) commercial driver’s license, setting you on a path to a rewarding and essential profession.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in all aspects of the paid CDL/HGV training program.
  • Learn and adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles under supervision.
  • Assist experienced drivers on collection routes, learning proper collection techniques.
  • Develop skills in operating heavy sanitation vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean driving record and demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and the public.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class 5 (or equivalent standard) driver's license with a clean driving abstract.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical examination.
  • Strong work ethic and a desire to learn a new skill.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude is an asset, but not required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a physically demanding role.
  • Familiarity with the Montreal area road network.
