Job Description
Join CSIRO in Mount Gambier as a Research Assistant and contribute to critical federal science initiatives. This role involves supporting scientific research projects through data collection, experimental setup, sample analysis, and accurate record-keeping. You will work within a dedicated team, applying scientific principles to real-world problems. Key Responsibilities
- Assist scientists and researchers in planning and executing experiments.
- Collect, process, and analyze samples using specified protocols and equipment.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of experimental procedures, data, and results.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and safety.
- Perform literature reviews and assist with data interpretation and report preparation.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, ethical guidelines, and quality control standards.
- Contribute to the general upkeep and organization of the laboratory or field site.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biotechnology).
- Demonstrated ability to follow scientific protocols and procedures.
- Proficiency in data collection and basic data entry.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a research laboratory or field setting.
- Familiarity with statistical software or specialized scientific equipment.
- Experience with scientific report writing.
- Current driver's license.
