Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Remote Public Policy Researcher to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful public policy research from anywhere in Canada, benefiting from flexible working hours and a comprehensive pension plan. The successful candidate will conduct in-depth research, analyze complex data, and formulate evidence-based policy recommendations to inform our reports, briefs, and public engagements. This role requires a strong understanding of Canadian public policy, excellent research methodologies, and the ability to communicate findings clearly and concisely to diverse audiences. This is a 100% remote position.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive qualitative and quantitative research on assigned public policy issues.
- Analyze data from various sources, including government reports, academic studies, and statistical databases, to identify key trends and insights.
- Prepare detailed research reports, policy briefs, presentations, and other communication materials for diverse stakeholders.
- Formulate practical and evidence-based policy recommendations that address identified challenges.
- Monitor policy developments at federal, provincial, and municipal levels and provide timely analysis of their implications.
- Collaborate effectively with internal research teams and external experts to enhance research quality and impact.
- Present research findings to internal groups, policymakers, and public forums.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in public policy research and analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Proficiency in various research methodologies and data analysis techniques.
- Demonstrated understanding of the Canadian public policy landscape and governance structures.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple research projects simultaneously in a remote environment.
- Proficiency in standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Law, or a related field.
- Experience with specific policy domains such as health, education, environment, social welfare, or economic development.
- Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS, Stata) and data visualization tools.
- Experience engaging with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, academics, and community groups.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is considered a significant asset.
