Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Remote Building Permit Processor to join our Local Government team. This crucial role involves reviewing, processing, and tracking building permit applications from the initial submission through to final approval. The successful candidate will ensure all applications comply with municipal bylaws, provincial building codes, and departmental policies. This is a fully remote position, requiring strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work independently to maintain efficient and timely processing of permits, supporting the safe and orderly development of our city.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, review, and verify completeness of building permit applications and supporting documentation.
- Liaise with applicants, contractors, and internal departments to resolve discrepancies or gather additional information.
- Enter and maintain accurate data within the permit tracking system.
- Coordinate with building inspectors, planners, and other relevant personnel to facilitate permit approvals.
- Respond to inquiries from the public regarding permit requirements and application status.
- Calculate applicable fees and process payments in accordance with municipal guidelines.
- Prepare and issue approved permits and related documentation.
- Maintain organized digital and physical records of all permit activities.
- Adhere to all municipal bylaws, provincial building codes, and departmental procedures.
