Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Records Manager to join our corporate information management team in Cairns. This role is crucial for ensuring the proper lifecycle management of corporate records, from creation and storage to retrieval and disposition. The Records Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective records management policies and procedures in compliance with internal guidelines and external regulatory requirements. You will play a key role in safeguarding corporate information, supporting operational efficiency, and mitigating risks associated with information governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain records management policies, procedures, and retention schedules.
  • Oversee the lifecycle management of physical and electronic corporate records.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legal, regulatory, and company requirements regarding records management.
  • Provide expert advice and training to staff on best practices in records management.
  • Manage and administer records management systems and technologies.
  • Conduct regular audits of records management processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with IT, Legal, and other departments to integrate records management into business processes.
  • Respond to information requests and support internal and external audits.
  • Identify and implement improvements to records management strategies and systems.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in records management or information governance.
  • Strong understanding of records management principles, best practices, and standards (e.g., ISO 15489).
  • Proficiency in records management software and electronic document management systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and influence others.
  • Ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Library Science, Archival Studies, or a related field.
  • Certification in Records Management (e.g., CRM).
  • Experience working within a large corporate or mining environment.
  • Knowledge of Australian privacy and information access legislation.
