Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and physically capable Railroad Track Maintenance Workers to join our critical infrastructure team. This role is essential for maintaining the safety and efficiency of our extensive rail network. As a Railroad Track Maintenance Worker, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining railroad tracks, switches, and other track infrastructure. This is a demanding position that requires significant travel, often working outdoors in various weather conditions, and involves physical labor. Key Responsibilities
- Inspect tracks, switches, and railroad crossings for defects and wear.
- Repair and replace defective rails, ties, and other track components.
- Operate heavy equipment such as spike pullers, tie inserters, and rail grinders.
- Perform track surfacing, tamping, and alignment using specialized machinery.
- Clear brush, trees, and other obstructions from railroad right-of-way.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Participate in emergency repairs and respond to service disruptions.
- Work collaboratively with crew members to complete tasks efficiently and safely.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
Required Skills
- Ability to travel extensively and work away from home for extended periods.
- Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50-100 lbs) frequently.
- Manual dexterity and ability to operate hand and power tools.
- Strong commitment to safety procedures and practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Reliable transportation to reporting locations.
- Availability to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain one.
- Prior experience in construction, heavy equipment operation, or similar physically demanding roles.
- Mechanical aptitude and experience with machinery maintenance.
- Welding or track repair certification.
