Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Rail / Permanent Way Engineer to join our dynamic team in Barcelona, Spain. This critical role involves the design, development, and implementation of railway permanent way systems for a variety of challenging projects. You will be instrumental in ensuring the structural integrity, safety, and efficiency of our rail infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and analysis of permanent way alignments, track structures, and associated components.
- Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and reports in accordance with international and national railway standards (e.g., UIC, ADIF).
- Conduct site investigations, surveys, and condition assessments of existing railway infrastructure.
- Provide technical support during the construction, installation, and maintenance phases of rail projects.
- Ensure all designs comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and project requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, structural, and electrical engineers, as well as project managers.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources related to permanent way engineering tasks.
- Perform quality control checks and reviews of designs and constructed works.
- Actively participate in client meetings and stakeholder consultations.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in railway permanent way design and engineering.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation) and railway design software.
- Strong understanding of railway track components, geometry, and design principles.
- Familiarity with relevant international and national railway standards and regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, international environment.
- Fluency in English (verbal and written) is essential for this role.
- Eligibility and willingness to obtain a work visa for Spain.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Railway Engineering or a related specialization.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent professional accreditation.
- Experience with high-speed rail projects or complex urban transit systems.
- Working knowledge of Spanish or other European languages.
- Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) tools in a railway context.
