Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Public Works Labourers to join our Infrastructure Projects team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to essential community development and maintenance projects across Port Lincoln. You will be involved in a variety of physical tasks, supporting the construction, repair, and upkeep of roads, footpaths, parks, and other public assets. Full training will be provided to ensure you are equipped with the necessary skills and safety knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform manual labour tasks including digging, shovelling, raking, and lifting materials.
  • Assist skilled tradespersons in various construction and maintenance activities.
  • Operate small plant and equipment (e.g., compaction equipment, jackhammers) after appropriate training.
  • Load and unload materials and supplies from vehicles and storage areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of worksites, tools, and equipment.
  • Adhere strictly to all WHS (Work Health and Safety) policies and procedures.
  • Participate in traffic management duties as required.
  • Assist with landscaping and grounds maintenance tasks in public areas.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform physical work for extended periods in various weather conditions.
  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety principles (or willingness to learn rapidly).
  • Good communication skills.
  • Valid Australian Driver's License (essential).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar labouring, construction, or outdoor maintenance role.
  • White Card (Construction Induction Card).
  • Experience operating basic hand tools and power tools.
  • First Aid Certificate.
