Job Description

Wirral Borough Council is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our Public Works team as Equipment Operator Trainees. This is an incredible opportunity for someone with no prior experience to kickstart a rewarding career in public works. Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in all provided training programs for equipment operation and safety.
- Learn to safely and efficiently operate a variety of public works equipment, including but not limited to mowers, small loaders, and utility vehicles, under supervision.
- Assist experienced operators and team members with daily tasks such as road maintenance, park upkeep, waste management support, and groundskeeping.
- Perform routine manual labour tasks as directed, including digging, lifting, and carrying materials.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Assist with basic equipment maintenance, cleaning, and inspections to ensure operational readiness.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, damage, or safety concerns promptly to supervisors.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment.
- Contribute positively to a team-oriented work culture focused on efficiency and public service.
Required Skills
- Strong desire to learn and develop new skills.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and safely.
- Good physical stamina and ability to perform manual labour in various weather conditions.
- Excellent work ethic and reliability.
