Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Public Sector Procurement Driver to join our logistics team in Moncton. This critical role involves the safe and efficient transportation of procurement items, supplies, and documents for various government departments and public sector entities throughout the Moncton area and surrounding regions. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, excellent time management skills, and a professional demeanor when interacting with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate light vans (e.g., cargo vans, panel vans) for the delivery and collection of goods for public sector procurement.
  • Load and unload materials, supplies, and documents, ensuring proper securing and handling to prevent damage.
  • Verify manifests and delivery schedules, ensuring accuracy and obtaining necessary signatures or proofs of delivery.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, documenting any maintenance needs or issues.
  • Adhere strictly to all New Brunswick traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, procurement officers, and receiving staff regarding delivery status or issues.
  • Assist with basic warehouse duties such as organizing incoming and outgoing items, when required.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and general maintenance of the assigned vehicle.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class 5 New Brunswick Driver's License (or equivalent) with a clean driving abstract.
  • Minimum 6 months of professional driving experience, preferably in a delivery or logistics capacity.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry packages weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg) repeatedly throughout the day.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet delivery schedules.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle safety and maintenance checks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the Moncton and Greater Moncton geographical area.
  • Experience operating light commercial vehicles.
  • Basic computer literacy for logging and reporting.
  • Customer service experience.
