Job Description

SEPTA’s Transport Department is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Public Sector Fleet Dispatcher. In this critical role, you will be responsible for coordinating and optimizing the daily operations of our diverse fleet, ensuring efficient scheduling, vehicle assignment, and response to operational needs. This position requires strong communication skills, the ability to make quick decisions, and a commitment to maintaining the high standards of public service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and dispatch vehicles and personnel for daily operational assignments.
  • Monitor vehicle locations and status using GPS and communication systems.
  • Manage real-time schedule adjustments, re-routing, and incident response to maintain service levels.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, maintenance staff, and other departments regarding fleet status and operational changes.
  • Maintain accurate dispatch logs, vehicle records, and incident reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Assist in emergency situations, coordinating appropriate responses with management.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in dispatching or logistics coordination, preferably in a public sector or transportation environment.
  • Proficient in using dispatch software, GPS systems, and standard office applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and make sound decisions quickly.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Logistics, Transportation Management, or a related field.
  • Experience with SEPTA's operational systems or similar large-scale public transit systems.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
