Job Description

We are seeking highly motivated and community-focused individuals to join our team as Public Safety Telecommunicators. This is an entry-level, fast-paced role that requires quick thinking, composure under pressure, and exceptional communication skills. Full, comprehensive training will be provided to ensure your success, making this an ideal opportunity for those new to public safety or looking for a career change. You will be the crucial link between citizens in distress and emergency responders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer emergency and non-emergency calls with professionalism and empathy, accurately gathering critical information.
  • Prioritize and dispatch appropriate law enforcement, fire, and medical units to incidents.
  • Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers in emergency situations, maintaining a calm and reassuring demeanor.
  • Maintain accurate records of calls, dispatches, and unit activities using advanced computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
  • Monitor multiple radio channels and communication lines simultaneously.
  • Collaborate effectively with field personnel and other emergency service agencies.
  • Adhere to all departmental policies, procedures, and regulations.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills.
  • Strong ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn specialized software.
  • Exceptional multi-tasking and organizational abilities.
  • A strong desire to serve the community and make a difference.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer service or call center environment.
  • Familiarity with the geography of Cincinnati and surrounding areas.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish).
