Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Public Hospital Porters / Orderlies. This is an immediate start, full-time position offering comprehensive benefits. As a vital part of our healthcare team, you will ensure the efficient and safe transport of patients, equipment, and supplies throughout the hospital. We welcome candidates who are eager to make a difference in a fast-paced environment and are committed to providing exceptional service and support to our patients and staff. Full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport patients via wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds to various departments (e.g., imaging, therapy, discharge) ensuring comfort and dignity.
  • Move equipment, supplies, and specimens as required throughout the hospital.
  • Assist with patient transfers to and from beds, stretchers, and chairs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of transport equipment.
  • Respond promptly to requests for transport services.
  • Communicate effectively with nurses, doctors, and other hospital staff.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations, including infection control protocols.
  • Provide compassionate support to patients and their families during transport.

  • Ability to push, pull, and lift patients and equipment safely.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented healthcare environment.
  • Basic understanding of hospital safety and hygiene practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a customer service or healthcare setting is a plus but not required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (can be obtained after hire).
