Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Public Health Administration Assistant to join our team in Sydney, Nova Scotia. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals passionate about contributing to public health without prior experience. You will play a crucial role in supporting the administrative functions of our public health programs, ensuring smooth operations and efficient service delivery. Full training will be provided to help you succeed in this vital role.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general administrative duties, including data entry, filing, and managing correspondence.
- Assist with scheduling appointments and coordinating meetings for public health staff.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records and program documentation.
- Respond to inquiries from the public and direct them to appropriate resources.
- Prepare and distribute public health materials and communications.
- Support the planning and execution of public health initiatives and events.
- Order and maintain office supplies and equipment.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure a cohesive and supportive work environment.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite or similar).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A positive attitude and a strong willingness to learn new tasks and procedures.
- No prior experience in public health or administrative roles is required; comprehensive training will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in office administration, health sciences, or a related field (not required, but an asset).
- Experience in customer service or a public-facing role (volunteer experience is welcome).
- Familiarity with public health concepts or community services.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
