Coastal Facilities Solutions is seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our team as an Entry Level Public Facilities Handyman / Maintenance operative in Newquay. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to learn a trade, develop practical skills, and contribute to the upkeep of vital public infrastructure. Full training will be provided to ensure you have all the tools and knowledge needed to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior technicians with routine maintenance and repairs across various public facilities, including community centers, public restrooms, and recreational areas.
- Perform basic plumbing tasks such as fixing leaks, unclogging drains, and repairing minor pipe issues under supervision.
- Conduct general carpentry work, including minor repairs to doors, windows, and furniture.
- Undertake painting and decorating tasks to maintain aesthetic standards of facilities.
- Execute minor electrical repairs, such as replacing light bulbs and checking simple circuits, always adhering to safety protocols.
- Ensure all work areas are kept clean, tidy, and safe during and after maintenance tasks.
- Report any major issues or required complex repairs to senior management promptly.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist with grounds maintenance tasks as needed, including litter removal and basic landscaping.
Required Skills
- A strong willingness to learn and develop practical trade skills.
- Basic understanding of tools and their safe usage (even from personal hobbies).
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina and manual dexterity for carrying out repair tasks.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- A valid UK driving license is preferred for travel between sites (or willingness to obtain one).
Preferred Qualifications
