Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Pothole Repair Crew Member to join our Local Government Roadworks team. In this essential role, you will contribute directly to the upkeep and safety of Pocatello’s streets by performing routine and emergency pothole repairs. This position requires hands-on work, operating various tools and equipment, and working outdoors in all weather conditions to ensure our roadways remain in optimal condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor, including shoveling, raking, and spreading asphalt and other materials.
- Operate and maintain hand tools and power equipment used in road repair, such as jackhammers, asphalt compactors, and tampers.
- Assist with traffic control setup and teardown at work sites to ensure public and crew safety.
- Load and unload materials, including asphalt, gravel, and other aggregates.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Participate in site clean-up after repairs are completed.
- Communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support road maintenance operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor for extended periods, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Basic understanding of construction site safety practices.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in construction, road maintenance, or a similar labor-intensive role.
- Experience operating light to medium construction equipment.
- Traffic control certification (e.g., flagger certification).
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
