Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Penetration Tester / Ethical Hacker to join our security team in Berkeley, CA. In this critical role, you will be responsible for proactively identifying vulnerabilities in our systems, applications, and networks before malicious actors can exploit them. You will perform comprehensive security assessments, conduct penetration tests, and provide actionable recommendations to enhance our overall security posture. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, conduct, and report on penetration tests across various environments (web applications, network infrastructure, cloud, mobile).
- Identify, exploit, and document security vulnerabilities and weaknesses.
- Develop and utilize a wide array of attack vectors, tools, and methodologies.
- Provide clear, concise, and actionable recommendations to development and operations teams to remediate identified vulnerabilities.
- Stay current with the latest security threats, trends, and technologies.
- Collaborate with security engineers and developers to implement robust security controls.
- Participate in security code reviews and architectural design reviews.
- Assist in the development of security testing frameworks and methodologies.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, and ethical hacking.
- Strong understanding of common web application vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10) and network protocols.
- Proficiency with penetration testing tools such as Burp Suite, Metasploit, Nmap, Kali Linux.
- Solid understanding of operating systems (Linux, Windows) and networking concepts.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ruby, PowerShell, Bash).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to articulate complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant security certifications (e.g., OSCP, CEH, GPEN, GWAPT).
- Experience with cloud security testing (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architectures.
- Knowledge of secure coding principles and practices.
- Experience with static and dynamic application security testing (SAST/DAST) tools.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
