Job Description
We are seeking highly skilled and dedicated Paramedics or Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to join our dynamic team at the West Parry Sound Health Centre. Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and provide pre-hospital medical care to patients.
- Assess patient conditions, administer medications, and perform life-saving interventions in accordance with established protocols and medical directives.
- Operate and maintain emergency medical equipment, ensuring readiness for all deployments.
- Document patient information, medical history, treatments administered, and vital signs accurately and thoroughly.
- Transport patients safely to medical facilities, providing continuous care during transit.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, medical staff, and other emergency responders.
- Maintain strict adherence to all health and safety regulations and professional standards.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain and enhance clinical skills.
- Conduct daily vehicle and equipment checks to ensure operational readiness.
Required Skills
- Valid Paramedic/EMT certification/licensure from a recognized jurisdiction (e.g., ACP, PCP, EMT-P, NREMT).
- Demonstrated proficiency in emergency medical procedures, patient assessment, and critical care interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to make sound clinical decisions quickly and effectively under pressure.
- Valid Class F driver’s license (or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and move patients and equipment as required by the role.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Paramedic or EMT in an emergency setting.
- Experience working in a rural or remote healthcare environment.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Trauma Life Support certification (e.g., ITLS, PHTLS).
- Proficiency in a second language relevant to the local community.
