Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Neonatal Intensive Care Nurses (NICU) to join our team in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to neonates requiring intensive care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Monitor vital signs, administer medications, manage ventilators, and operate specialized equipment for neonatal care.
  • Collaborate with neonatologists, pediatricians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Educate and support parents/guardians, involving them in the care plan and preparing them for discharge.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and professional nursing standards.

Required Skills

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in country of origin, eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses (NSCN).
  • Minimum 2 years of recent, continuous experience in a Level III or IV NICU setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of neonatal physiology, disease processes, and critical care interventions.
  • Proficiency in neonatal assessment, IV insertion, medication administration, and ventilator management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
  • Previous experience with international accreditation processes.
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems specific to pediatrics/neonatology.
