Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Neonatal Intensive Care Nurses (NICU) to join our team in Sydney, Nova Scotia. You will provide specialized nursing care to critically ill and premature infants, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standard of care. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to neonates requiring intensive care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Monitor vital signs, administer medications, manage ventilators, and operate specialized equipment for neonatal care.
- Collaborate with neonatologists, pediatricians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Educate and support parents/guardians, involving them in the care plan and preparing them for discharge.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and professional nursing standards.
Required Skills
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in country of origin, eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses (NSCN).
- Minimum 2 years of recent, continuous experience in a Level III or IV NICU setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of neonatal physiology, disease processes, and critical care interventions.
- Proficiency in neonatal assessment, IV insertion, medication administration, and ventilator management.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
- Previous experience with international accreditation processes.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems specific to pediatrics/neonatology.
