Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Naval Architect to join our engineering team in Arlington, VA. This pivotal role involves contributing to the design, analysis, and integration of advanced submarine systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in naval architecture principles and a passion for developing innovative solutions for complex maritime challenges. Key Responsibilities
- Perform hull form design, naval hydrodynamic, and hydrostatic analysis for submarine platforms.
- Conduct stability assessments, weight and balance calculations, and structural analysis.
- Develop and review engineering specifications, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, including mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers.
- Utilize advanced CAD/CAE software for design, modeling, and simulation.
- Ensure designs comply with regulatory body requirements and industry standards.
- Participate in design reviews, testing, and trials to validate performance.
- Provide technical support throughout the entire lifecycle of naval projects.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in naval architecture or marine engineering.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Rhinoceros).
- Strong understanding of ship hydrostatics, hydrodynamics, and stability.
- Experience with structural analysis principles and methods.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Naval Architecture or a related engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or actively pursuing licensure.
- Experience with U.S. Navy shipbuilding programs or defense projects.
- Familiarity with industry-specific software (e.g., AVEVA Marine, MAESTRO, GHS).
- Knowledge of classification society rules (e.g., ABS, DNV) and military specifications.
- Experience with FEA software (e.g., ANSYS, NASTRAN).
