Job Description
Transformer Station is seeking an accomplished and visionary Museum Curator / Director focused on International Sponsorship. This pivotal role will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to secure international sponsorships and partnerships, significantly contributing to the expansion of the museum’s exhibition programs, acquisitions, and global reach. The successful candidate will also oversee curatorial projects, ensuring the artistic integrity and innovative spirit of our exhibitions. This position requires a blend of curatorial expertise, strategic fundraising acumen, and a deep understanding of international cultural landscapes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive international sponsorship strategies to secure funding for exhibitions, programs, and operational needs.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward international donors, foundations, corporate sponsors, and governmental entities.
- Manage existing and forge new international partnerships with museums, galleries, cultural organizations, and art institutions worldwide.
- Oversee the conceptualization, research, organization, and installation of contemporary art exhibitions, with a focus on international perspectives.
- Collaborate with the curatorial team and executive leadership to align sponsorship efforts with artistic vision and institutional goals.
- Prepare compelling proposals, presentations, and reports for potential and existing international sponsors.
- Represent Transformer Station at international art fairs, conferences, and networking events.
- Manage exhibition budgets, timelines, and logistical arrangements for international projects.
- Contribute to the strategic planning and artistic direction of the institution.
Required Skills
- Proven track record in successful fundraising or international sponsorship for cultural institutions (minimum 5 years).
- Strong curatorial experience with a focus on contemporary art, particularly international artists.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and proposal writing.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders globally.
- Exceptional project management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in English; additional language proficiency (e.g., French, German, Spanish, Mandarin) highly valued.
- Deep knowledge of contemporary art history, theory, and market trends.
- Ability to travel internationally as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Art History, Curatorial Studies, Museum Studies, Arts Administration, or a related field.
- Experience working with international government agencies or cultural ministries.
- Published curatorial essays, exhibition catalogues, or scholarly articles.
- Familiarity with CRM software and donor management systems.
