Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and meticulous Mould Maker to join our dynamic manufacturing team in Burnie. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, fabrication, maintenance, and repair of precision moulds used in various manufacturing processes. This role requires a high degree of technical skill, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing components that meet rigorous quality standards. Key Responsibilities
- Design and fabricate high-precision moulds and tooling from blueprints and 3D models.
- Operate various machine tools including CNC milling machines, lathes, grinders, and EDM equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance and repair on existing moulds to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Inspect finished moulds and tooling for accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications using precision measuring instruments.
- Collaborate with design engineers and production teams to optimize mould designs for manufacturability and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to mould performance and product quality.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Document all mould fabrication, maintenance, and repair activities accurately.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Mould Maker or similar precision machinist role.
- Strong proficiency in operating CNC milling machines, lathes, surface grinders, and EDM.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and 3D CAD models.
- Expertise in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators.
- Solid understanding of various mould materials, heat treatment processes, and surface finishes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to safety and quality assurance.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade qualification or equivalent in Toolmaking, Machining, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam).
- Knowledge of injection moulding, compression moulding, or die casting processes.
- Prior experience in a high-precision manufacturing environment.
- Forklift license.
