Job Description
Are you passionate about making a tangible difference in global economic development? Global Impact Initiatives UK is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Microfinance & Economic Empowerment Intern to join our team in Chesterfield. This entry-level internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the non-profit sector, focusing on the critical areas of microfinance and economic empowerment. You will support our program development, research initiatives, and community outreach efforts, contributing to projects that impact vulnerable communities globally. No prior experience is required; we are looking for individuals eager to learn and grow within a supportive environment. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the research and analysis of global microfinance trends and economic empowerment strategies.
- Support the development and implementation of new program initiatives aimed at financial inclusion.
- Contribute to the creation of educational materials and workshops for community beneficiaries.
- Help in data collection and analysis to monitor program effectiveness and impact.
- Prepare reports and presentations for internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for project improvement and innovation.
- Engage with local partners and community representatives under supervision.
- Manage administrative tasks related to program support and outreach.
Required Skills
- Strong interest in international development, microfinance, or economics.
- Excellent research and analytical abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant degree program (e.g., International Development, Economics, Social Sciences).
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Experience with data entry or database management.
- Knowledge of an additional language relevant to our global operations (e.g., French, Spanish, Arabic).
- Previous volunteer experience with a non-profit organization.
