Job Description
Are you passionate about food and eager to learn a highly valuable, traditional trade? Partridges of London is seeking a motivated Meat Processing / Butcher’s Apprentice to join our esteemed team in Kensington. This is a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with no prior experience to embark on a comprehensive training program. You will learn the art of butchery, from meat preparation and cutting to customer service and shop management, all within a supportive and high-quality retail environment. This apprenticeship offers hands-on experience, mentorship from experienced butchers, and a clear pathway to a rewarding and well-paid career.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist experienced butchers in the preparation and cutting of various meats.
- Learn to identify different cuts of meat and their appropriate uses.
- Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene standards of the butcher's counter and processing areas.
- Provide excellent customer service, advising on meat selection and cooking methods.
- Assist with stock rotation, ordering, and inventory management.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations.
- Develop skills in knife handling, sharpening, and safety.
- Assist with the packaging and presentation of meat products.
Required Skills
- Enthusiasm and a strong desire to learn the butchery trade.
- Excellent work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic understanding of food hygiene (training will be provided).
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights.
Preferred Qualifications

- Basic knowledge of different types of meat.
