Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Meals on Wheels Coordinator to join our team within the City and County of Denver Human Services. This vital role involves overseeing the daily operations of the Meals on Wheels program, ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of nutritious meals to homebound seniors and individuals with disabilities. The Coordinator will be responsible for program logistics, volunteer management, client intake, and maintaining strong community partnerships. This position is a cornerstone of our efforts to support the well-being and independence of vulnerable populations in Denver.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate all aspects of the Meals on Wheels program, including meal ordering, packaging, and delivery scheduling.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise a dedicated team of volunteers and part-time delivery drivers.
- Conduct client intake, assessments, and regular follow-ups to ensure needs are met and services are appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records of client information, meal deliveries, and program statistics.
- Liaise with food service providers, community partners, and local agencies to ensure program effectiveness and expand outreach.
- Handle program inquiries, resolve issues, and provide excellent customer service to clients and their families.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and operational standards.
- Assist in grant reporting, program evaluation, and identifying opportunities for program enhancement.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in program coordination or similar administrative role, preferably in a non-profit or public service setting.
- Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and data entry.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated empathy and understanding for the needs of seniors and individuals with disabilities.
- Valid Colorado Driver's License and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Non-Profit Management, or a related field.
- Experience with volunteer management systems or CRM software.
- Knowledge of local community resources and services for seniors.
- Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish).
