Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Marine Surveyor / Inspector to join our growing team. This is a critical role responsible for conducting comprehensive surveys and inspections of various marine vessels, equipment, and cargo to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and client specifications. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality reports. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough surveys and inspections of marine vessels, including yachts, recreational boats, and commercial crafts, focusing on hull, machinery, and structural integrity.
  • Perform cargo surveys, ensuring proper loading, stowage, and securing, and assessing any damage during transit.
  • Investigate marine incidents, accidents, and casualties, determining causes and extent of damage.
  • Prepare detailed, accurate, and timely survey reports, including photographic evidence and recommendations.
  • Interpret and apply relevant national and international maritime regulations and classification society rules.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, vessel owners, operators, and insurance companies.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, new technologies, and regulatory changes.
  • Adhere to company safety policies and procedures at all times.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in marine surveying, marine engineering, naval architecture, or a related maritime field.
  • Strong knowledge of vessel construction, machinery systems, and marine operations.
  • Proficiency in conducting visual inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods (e.g., ultrasonic thickness gauging).
  • Excellent report writing and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.
  • Proficiency with standard office software (Microsoft Office Suite).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Maritime Studies, or a related technical field.
  • Professional certification from a recognized marine surveying body (e.g., NAMS, SAMS, IIMS).
  • Experience with inland waterways vessels or recreational marine craft.
  • Familiarity with various classification society rules (e.g., ABS, DNV, Lloyd's Register).
  • Experience with drone inspection technology.
