Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Marine Biology Research Intern to join our team for hands-on coastal field work. This internship provides an exceptional opportunity for individuals passionate about marine science to gain practical experience in data collection, ecological surveys, and basic laboratory procedures in the beautiful coastal environments near Repentigny. The intern will work closely with experienced marine biologists, contributing to ongoing research projects aimed at understanding and protecting our valuable aquatic resources. This is an entry-level position designed to provide comprehensive training and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior researchers with field data collection, including species identification, habitat mapping, and water sampling.
  • Participate in the deployment and retrieval of various scientific instruments and monitoring equipment.
  • Accurately record and organize field data, ensuring precision and completeness.
  • Conduct basic laboratory tasks such as sample preparation and preliminary analysis.
  • Maintain and clean field equipment, ensuring its readiness for use.
  • Assist with data entry and basic statistical analysis under supervision.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental guidelines during field operations.
  • Contribute to the preparation of research summaries and reports as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Marine Biology, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related discipline.
  • Basic understanding of scientific principles and research methodologies.
  • Previous volunteer experience in environmental conservation or research.
  • Proficiency in French and English (bilingualism is an asset in Quebec).
  • Valid driver's license.
