Job Description
Are you a skilled Forklift Operator looking for immediate employment in an active outdoor environment? RONA in Calgary is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Lumber Yard Forklift Operators. This is a full-time position crucial to our daily operations, ensuring the efficient movement and organization of lumber and building materials. You will primarily work outdoors, requiring resilience to various weather conditions and a strong commitment to safety. Key Responsibilities
- Operate a forklift safely and efficiently to load and unload delivery trucks.
- Move, stack, and organize lumber and other building materials within the yard.
- Conduct daily safety checks and basic maintenance on forklifts.
- Assist customers with material loading and product inquiries in the yard.
- Maintain a clean and organized lumber yard, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth yard operations and customer satisfaction.
- Identify and report any damaged materials or safety hazards.
Required Skills
- Valid Forklift Operator certification.
- Proven experience operating various types of forklifts (counterbalance, reach, etc.).
- Strong understanding and adherence to safety procedures and regulations.
- Ability to work effectively in an outdoor environment, enduring varying weather conditions.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects and perform manual tasks as required.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a lumber yard or building materials retail environment.
- Knowledge of different types of lumber and building materials.
- Basic computer skills for inventory management.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
