Job Description
Join our dedicated Youth Offending Team as an Assistant and play a crucial role in supporting young individuals within the local justice system. This rewarding position involves providing administrative support, assisting with case management, and helping to coordinate interventions designed to reduce re-offending and promote positive development. You will work closely with Youth Offending Officers, social workers, police, and educational professionals, contributing to a collaborative environment focused on restorative justice and community integration. Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Youth Offending Team, including scheduling, correspondence, and record-keeping.
- Assist Youth Offending Officers with case management tasks, ensuring accurate and up-to-date client files.
- Liaise with internal departments and external agencies (e.g., police, schools, health services) to gather information and coordinate support.
- Help prepare reports, presentations, and other documents for team meetings and court proceedings.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all data protection policies regarding sensitive client information.
- Support the organization and facilitation of group work sessions and intervention programs for young people.
- Respond to inquiries from young people, families, and partner agencies with professionalism and empathy.
Required Skills
- Proven administrative experience, preferably within a social care, justice, or public sector environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated empathy and a non-judgmental approach when working with young people and their families.
- Understanding of the principles of youth justice and child safeguarding.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant qualification in social work, youth work, criminology, or a related field.
- Experience using case management software.
- Knowledge of local youth services and community resources in Kearney.
- First Aid certification.
