Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Local Authority Senior Center Coordinator to join our team in Naperville. This vital role is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and oversight of our senior center’s activities and operations during day hours. The Coordinator will play a key role in developing, implementing, and promoting programs that cater to the diverse interests and needs of our senior community, ensuring a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment for all participants. This is an on-site position focused on direct community engagement and program delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate a diverse range of recreational, educational, and wellness programs and activities for senior center members.
  • Oversee daily operations of the senior center, including facility readiness, activity scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Manage program registration, attendance records, and participant feedback to continuously improve offerings.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers, ensuring they are well-integrated into center activities and supported in their roles.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for members, visitors, and their families, addressing inquiries and providing information.
  • Promote senior center programs through various channels, including newsletters, social media, and community outreach.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and operational policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with local organizations, service providers, and community partners to enhance program offerings and resources.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment, coordinating purchases as needed.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in program coordination or community services, preferably within a senior-focused environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse groups.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite, email, scheduling software).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • High school diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Gerontology, Social Work, Recreation Management, or a related field.
  • Experience with volunteer management and supervision.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and services for seniors.
  • Bilingual proficiency (Spanish preferred).
