Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic and physically capable individual to join our dynamic production team as a Live Sound Engineering Assistant. This entry-level role offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of live event production. You will assist our experienced sound engineers with the crucial tasks of setting up, operating, and tearing down audio equipment for a variety of live concerts and festivals. This position requires a strong work ethic, a keen interest in live sound, and the ability to perform significant heavy lifting. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the loading, unloading, and safe transportation of various audio equipment, including speakers, mixing consoles, amplifiers, microphones, and extensive cabling.
- Support lead sound engineers in the precise setup and efficient tear-down of PA systems, stage monitors, microphone arrays, and signal processing equipment.
- Execute basic cable management, stage patching, and general stage setup according to event specifications.
- Contribute to routine equipment maintenance and assist with inventory management and organization within our warehouse and on-site.
- Provide on-site support during live events, assisting with stage changes, minor technical adjustments, and troubleshooting under direct supervision.
- Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned, packed, and secured for transport and storage after each event.
- Strictly adhere to all company safety protocols and operational procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and the team.
Required Skills
- Exceptional physical stamina and the proven ability to safely lift and move heavy equipment, up to 50 lbs (23 kg) regularly.
- Flexibility and willingness to work irregular hours, which will frequently include evenings, weekends, and holidays, often in outdoor and varied weather conditions.
- A foundational understanding of audio signal flow or a demonstrated strong desire and aptitude to learn about live sound production.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a close-knit team.
- Reliable personal transportation is essential to commute to our warehouse in Owen Sound and various event sites within Owen Sound and the broader Grey County area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some previous experience in a live event, stagehand, warehouse, or physically demanding labor environment.
- Possession of a valid G Class driver's license.
- Current First Aid and/or CPR certification.
- Enrollment in or completion of a relevant technical program, audio production course, or similar educational background.
