Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and physically capable Lighting Technician’s Mate to join our dynamic team in Repentigny. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about live events and production, with a willingness to learn and work at heights. As a Lighting Technician’s Mate, you will play a crucial supporting role in the setup, operation, and dismantling of complex lighting systems for various events. This position involves significant climbing and rigging tasks, requiring a strong commitment to safety and physical endurance. While previous experience in lighting or rigging is a plus, comprehensive training will be provided to the right candidate who demonstrates a strong work ethic and aptitude for the role. Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead lighting technicians with the installation, setup, and dismantling of lighting fixtures and related equipment.
- Perform rigging tasks, including climbing, securing equipment, and adhering to strict safety protocols for working at heights.
- Run and manage cables, ensuring proper organization and safety across the work site.
- Conduct pre-event checks and basic maintenance on lighting gear and rigging equipment.
- Follow precise instructions from senior technicians and production managers.
- Load and unload equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Actively participate in safety briefings and adhere to all company and industry safety standards.
- Learn and apply advanced rigging and lighting techniques under supervision.
Required Skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong physical fitness and ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
- Comfortable working at heights for extended periods, including climbing ladders and using safety harnesses.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety procedures and practices.
- Basic understanding of tools and their safe operation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Fall Protection certification.
- WHMIS certification.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Previous experience in a stage production, construction, or industrial setting involving rigging or heavy lifting.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
