Job Description
Join Feld Entertainment as a Lighting Technician’s Mate specializing in Climbing & Rigging. This is an exciting opportunity for highly motivated individuals who are eager to learn the foundational skills of live event production, with a specific focus on the safe and efficient installation, maintenance, and strike of lighting systems in elevated environments. You will receive comprehensive training in industry-standard climbing techniques, rigging principles, and electrical safety, preparing you for a dynamic career in entertainment production. This role requires a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and a desire to contribute to world-class live events. While some basic mechanical aptitude is a plus, a willingness to learn and adapt is paramount. This position is hands-on and physically demanding, offering high pay for those dedicated to mastering their craft.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead lighting technicians with the setup, operation, and breakdown of complex lighting systems for live shows and events.
- Learn and apply safe climbing and rigging techniques for working at height, under direct supervision.
- Handle, store, and maintain lighting equipment, cables, and rigging hardware.
- Participate in pre-show checks and post-show maintenance of all lighting and rigging components.
- Follow all safety protocols and company guidelines meticulously, especially when working in elevated positions.
- Aid in the loading and unloading of equipment for transport.
- Develop a strong understanding of various lighting fixtures, control systems, and power distribution.
- Collaborate effectively with other technical departments to ensure seamless show execution.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) and work at heights.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by production schedules.
- Reliable transportation to the job site.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a theatrical, live event, or construction environment (even if informal).
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
- Certification in first aid or CPR.
- Interest in lighting technology, stagecraft, or entertainment production.
