Job Description
As an IT Infrastructure Lead at Telstra in Launceston, you will be a pivotal figure in ensuring the robust, secure, and efficient operation of our critical IT infrastructure. This role involves leading a team, managing complex projects, and driving continuous improvement in our network, server, storage, and cloud environments. You will be responsible for the strategic planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of our infrastructure systems, ensuring high availability and performance to support our diverse business operations and customer needs across Tasmania.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of IT infrastructure specialists, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of server, network, storage, and cloud infrastructure solutions.
- Develop and enforce infrastructure policies, standards, and best practices, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and security protocols.
- Manage IT infrastructure projects from conception to completion, including budget management, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication.
- Perform regular system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal operation and minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with other IT teams and business units to understand requirements and deliver infrastructure solutions that align with strategic objectives.
- Identify and implement automation opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce manual effort in infrastructure management.
- Manage vendor relationships and evaluate new technologies to ensure Telstra's infrastructure remains cutting-edge and resilient.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in leading IT infrastructure teams and managing complex IT projects.
- Strong expertise in enterprise-level network, server (Windows/Linux), and storage technologies.
- In-depth knowledge of virtualisation platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and infrastructure security best practices.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, MCSA, MCSE, ITIL, AWS/Azure certifications).
- Experience with DevOps methodologies and tools.
