Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Immigration Support Officer to join the Department of Home Affairs team in Docklands, Melbourne. In this role, you will be crucial in supporting the operations of Australia’s immigration system, providing administrative assistance, and engaging with stakeholders to ensure smooth processing and compliance. This position requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to public service. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support for immigration-related processes and applications.
  • Respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Prepare and process correspondence, reports, and documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain and update databases and record management systems.
  • Assist with the coordination of appointments and meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve operational goals and enhance service delivery.
  • Undertake other duties as directed to support departmental objectives.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated administrative experience, preferably within a government or regulatory environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Australian Citizenship is a mandatory requirement for this role.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a relevant security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in immigration, border protection, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Australian immigration legislation and policies.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., Public Administration, Law, Social Sciences).
  • Experience with government specific IT systems.
