Job Description

Are you ready to chill out and create? Live Nation Canada is seeking a motivated and physically capable Ice Sculpting Assistant to join our events team in Vancouver. This is a unique opportunity to work in a creative, fast-paced environment, contributing to stunning ice installations for a variety of high-profile events. You will work closely with lead sculptors, handling ice, preparing the workspace, and assisting with the entire sculpting process from concept to teardown. This role requires comfort working in cold conditions and involves significant physical labor and heavy lifting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist lead ice sculptors with all stages of ice block preparation, handling, and placement.
  • Operate and maintain specialized ice sculpting tools and equipment safely.
  • Ensure the workspace is organized, clean, and adheres to strict safety protocols, especially in cold environments.
  • Transport large blocks of ice and finished sculptures using appropriate lifting and moving techniques.
  • Support the setup and teardown of ice installations at various event venues.
  • Perform general shop duties, including cleaning, organizing, and inventory management.
  • Follow precise instructions from lead sculptors and event managers to ensure artistic vision is met.
  • Contribute creative ideas and solutions during brainstorming and execution phases.
  • Adhere to all company safety guidelines and operational procedures.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) and prolonged standing/walking.
  • Comfortable working in cold temperatures for extended periods, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Basic understanding of power tools and hand tools, or a strong willingness to learn.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • A positive attitude and a passion for creative projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a physically demanding role or a production/events environment.
  • Experience with art, design, or craftwork.
  • Forklift operation certification (an asset but not required).
  • First Aid certification.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
