Job Description
Are you looking to start a rewarding career in healthcare? NHS Dumfries and Galloway is seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our team as Hospital Porters. This is an entry-level, full-time position, and no prior experience is required as full training will be provided. As a vital part of our hospital operations, you will ensure the smooth and safe movement of patients, equipment, and supplies across the facility. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute directly to patient care and the overall efficiency of our hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport patients safely and comfortably between wards, departments, and examination rooms, often using wheelchairs, trolleys, or beds.
- Move medical equipment, beds, furniture, and laboratory specimens as required.
- Deliver mail, parcels, and medical records throughout the hospital.
- Assist in managing waste collection and disposal, including clinical waste.
- Respond to emergency calls and assist staff as needed in critical situations.
- Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of trolleys, wheelchairs, and other portering equipment.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations, infection control policies, and hospital procedures.
- Provide compassionate and respectful interaction with patients, visitors, and staff at all times.
Required Skills
