Job Description
BrightView Landscapes is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as a Grounds Maintenance Worker / Trainee Gardener in Kailua, Hawaii. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone passionate about working outdoors and interested in a career in landscaping and horticulture. No prior experience is required – we provide comprehensive on-the-job training to help you develop the skills needed to succeed. You will be an integral part of our team, contributing to the upkeep and enhancement of various outdoor properties.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general grounds maintenance tasks, including mowing, edging, weeding, and mulching under supervision.
- Assist with the planting of flowers, shrubs, and trees.
- Learn to operate and maintain various landscaping equipment safely and efficiently.
- Participate in irrigation system checks and basic repairs.
- Help with pruning and trimming of plants and small trees.
- Ensure work areas are kept clean and organized.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Required Skills
- Willingness to learn and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Reliable transportation to the job site in Kailua.
- Basic understanding of English for safety instructions.
- Commitment to punctuality and attendance.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a physically demanding role (not necessarily landscaping related).
- A genuine interest in gardening or outdoor work.
- Valid Hawaii Driver's License.
