Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Greenhouse / Horticulture Supervisor to oversee daily operations at our state-of-the-art facility in Dartmouth, NS. This vital role involves managing plant health, optimizing growing conditions, supervising a team of growers, and ensuring the efficient execution of all cultivation activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in greenhouse management, a passion for plant science, and excellent leadership skills. A comprehensive relocation package is available for suitable candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and train a team of greenhouse growers and technicians.
  • Monitor and control environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, CO2) to optimize plant growth.
  • Implement and manage integrated pest management (IPM) programs.
  • Oversee irrigation and nutrient delivery systems, ensuring proper calibration and application.
  • Maintain accurate records of crop cycles, yields, and operational data.
  • Conduct regular plant health assessments and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Assist in planning and scheduling planting, harvesting, and other crop activities.
  • Operate and troubleshoot greenhouse equipment and control systems.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial greenhouse or horticulture operations.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of plant physiology, nutrient management, and IPM strategies.
  • Familiarity with environmental control systems for greenhouses.
  • Ability to operate and perform basic maintenance on greenhouse equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in data recording and basic computer applications (MS Office).
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Horticulture, Agronomy, Plant Science, or a related field.
  • Experience with hydroponic growing systems.
  • Certification in pesticide application.
  • First Aid and WHMIS certification.
