Job Description
Are you passionate about making a difference and eager to learn the foundational skills of non-profit fundraising? Bow Valley Community Support is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Grant Writing & Fundraising Intern to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level individual to gain hands-on experience in the critical areas of grant research, proposal development, and donor relations. You will work closely with our experienced team, contributing to initiatives that directly impact our community. Full training and mentorship will be provided, ensuring you develop a comprehensive understanding of non-profit fundraising cycles and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with researching potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
- Support the preparation and drafting of grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and stewardship reports.
- Maintain and update our grant tracking database and donor management system.
- Help organize and execute fundraising events and campaigns.
- Conduct outreach to potential donors and partners under supervision.
- Prepare presentation materials and reports for fundraising activities.
- Assist with general administrative tasks related to the development department.
- Learn and apply best practices in grant compliance and reporting.
Required Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- A genuine passion for community service and the mission of non-profit organizations.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- No prior professional experience in grant writing or fundraising is required; a willingness to learn is paramount.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant post-secondary program (e.g., Communications, English, Marketing, Non-Profit Management, Social Sciences).
- Previous volunteer experience with a non-profit organization.
- Familiarity with database management or CRM systems.
- Basic understanding of the Banff and Bow Valley community needs.
