Job Description
Are you an energetic individual who thrives in an active, outdoor environment? Canada Post is seeking a motivated Government Mail Carrier / Postman to join our team in Sooke. This role involves the safe and efficient delivery of mail and parcels to a diverse customer base, ensuring timely service and representing Canada Post with professionalism. You will be an integral part of the community, interacting with residents daily while enjoying the beautiful Sooke landscape. This position requires physical stamina, excellent customer service skills, and a commitment to reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort and prepare mail and parcels for delivery within assigned routes.
- Safely and efficiently deliver mail and parcels on foot or by vehicle, adhering to established schedules.
- Collect outgoing mail from residential and commercial mailboxes.
- Provide exceptional customer service, answering inquiries and resolving delivery issues.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and traffic laws.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and collections.
- Operate and maintain a postal vehicle as required.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving abstract.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (22.7 kg) and walk for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Ability to read and interpret maps and delivery instructions.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a delivery or courier role.
- Familiarity with the Sooke area and its street layout.
- Experience working in an outdoor, all-weather environment.
