Job Description
We are seeking highly motivated and reliable individuals to join our team as Government Mail Carriers (Postmen) in Jacksonville, FL. This is an active outdoor role vital to our community, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of mail to residences and businesses. You will be responsible for operating a postal vehicle, navigating assigned routes, and sorting and delivering various types of mail. This position requires excellent physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to serving the public. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort and prepare mail for delivery according to established procedures.
- Operate a postal vehicle safely and efficiently on a designated route.
- Deliver mail and packages to homes and businesses, requiring walking and lifting.
- Collect outgoing mail from residential and business mailboxes.
- Provide excellent customer service to postal customers.
- Handle registered, certified, and insured mail.
- Adhere to all USPS safety regulations and operational guidelines.
- Report any unusual incidents or conditions along the route.
Required Skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Excellent physical condition, including the ability to walk for extended periods and lift up to 70 lbs.
- Valid state driver's license and a safe driving record.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident alien status.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in customer service or a physically demanding role.
- Familiarity with the Jacksonville area.
