Job Description
Join our dedicated team as a Gaming & Liquor Inspector, playing a crucial role in upholding state compliance within the dynamic gaming and liquor industries across Victoria. This position involves ensuring that licensed venues operate within the strict guidelines set by state regulations, promoting responsible service, fair play, and community safety. You will conduct site inspections, investigate potential breaches, and provide essential advice to licensees, contributing directly to the integrity of these sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular and unannounced inspections of licensed gaming and liquor venues to ensure compliance with relevant state legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
- Investigate alleged breaches, complaints, and incidents related to gaming and liquor operations, collecting evidence and preparing detailed reports.
- Provide advice and guidance to licensees on compliance requirements, best practices, and the resolution of regulatory issues.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, local councils, and other regulatory bodies to address compliance challenges and enforce regulations.
- Prepare and present accurate and timely reports, briefs, and recommendations to management and, where appropriate, to relevant boards or tribunals.
- Participate in educational and awareness programs for industry stakeholders regarding regulatory changes and compliance obligations.
- Identify and assess risks associated with non-compliance and recommend appropriate mitigating strategies.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to interpret and apply complex legislation, regulations, and policies.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and stakeholder engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a regulatory or enforcement environment.
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
- Proficiency in using standard office software and record-keeping systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- A diploma or degree in Law, Public Policy, Criminology, Business, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a regulatory compliance, law enforcement, or auditing role.
- Knowledge of Victoria's Gaming Regulation Act 2003 and Liquor Control Reform Act 1998.
- Experience conducting site visits or inspections.
