Job Description
Join the City of Abilene Parks and Recreation Department as a Fountain Penny Collector & Cleaner! This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working outdoors and contributing to the beauty and cleanliness of our city’s public spaces. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the daily collection of pennies and other items from our city park fountains, ensuring they remain clean, appealing, and functional for all visitors. No prior experience is necessary; we provide comprehensive on-the-job training. This role is crucial for maintaining the aesthetic appeal and operational integrity of Abilene’s cherished park fountains.
Key Responsibilities
- Regularly collect coins and debris from various public park fountains across Abilene.
- Clean fountain basins, removing algae, litter, and other foreign objects to maintain pristine water quality and appearance.
- Monitor fountain operation and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs to supervisory staff promptly.
- Ensure the safety and accessibility of fountain areas for park visitors.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and departmental guidelines while performing duties.
- Operate basic cleaning tools and equipment responsibly and efficiently.
- Assist with other general park maintenance tasks as needed, contributing to overall park upkeep.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including bending, lifting up to 25 pounds, and standing for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Reliable and punctual work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications
