Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Intern with a focus on Structural engineering to join our team in Fernie, BC. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring engineer to gain practical, hands-on experience with advanced simulation techniques under the guidance of experienced professionals. You will contribute to real-world projects, applying theoretical knowledge to practical challenges and developing a deeper understanding of structural behavior and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior engineers in developing and executing FEA models for structural components and assemblies.
  • Perform static, dynamic, and thermal analyses using industry-standard FEA software.
  • Interpret simulation results, prepare technical reports, and present findings to the engineering team.
  • Contribute to the validation and verification of FEA models against experimental data or analytical solutions.
  • Collaborate with design teams to optimize structural designs based on FEA insights.
  • Research and stay updated on the latest FEA methodologies and software advancements.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to project discussions.

Required Skills

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Strong foundational understanding of mechanics of materials, structural analysis, and solid mechanics.
  • Familiarity with the principles of Finite Element Analysis through coursework or academic projects.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and a willingness to learn FEA software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely, both written and verbal.
  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude towards new challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior academic project experience involving FEA software (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, Nastran, SolidWorks Simulation).
  • Basic programming skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for post-processing or automation.
  • Understanding of structural dynamics and fatigue analysis.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
