Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Facade Engineering Intern to join our innovative team in Perth. This entry-level internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the specialized field of facade engineering within a major construction company. You will work alongside experienced facade engineers and project teams, contributing to the design, analysis, and implementation of complex building envelopes for large-scale commercial and residential projects. This role is perfect for a student or recent graduate eager to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges and develop a strong foundation in modern construction methodologies and materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior facade engineers with design development and review of facade systems.
- Contribute to the analysis of thermal performance, structural integrity, and weatherproofing for various facade materials.
- Review architectural drawings, shop drawings, and specifications for compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Participate in research and evaluation of new facade technologies, materials, and sustainable solutions.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation under guidance.
- Conduct site visits to observe facade installation, quality control, and problem-solving.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated facade solutions.
- Support the team in administrative tasks and project coordination as required.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
- Fundamental understanding of structural mechanics, material science, and building physics.
- Basic proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Eagerness to learn, proactive attitude, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated interest in facade design, building envelopes, and sustainable construction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous academic project experience or coursework focused on building envelopes or facade systems.
- Familiarity with relevant Australian building codes and standards (e.g., NCC, AS/NZS).
- Basic knowledge of facade modeling and analysis software (e.g., Rhino, Grasshopper, FEM tools).
- Availability to commit to a full-time internship for a specified period.
