Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Exploration Geologist to join our dynamic exploration team based near Gympie, Queensland. This entry-level position is designed for recent graduates who are passionate about geology and eager to kick-start their career in the mining sector. You will receive comprehensive training and mentorship, gaining hands-on experience in various aspects of mineral exploration, from fieldwork to data interpretation. This role offers an incredible opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, contribute to significant exploration projects, and develop a strong foundation for a successful career in geology.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in fieldwork activities including geological mapping, core logging, and rock chip sampling.
- Assist with the collection and management of geological data using various software and tools.
- Operate and maintain field equipment safely and efficiently.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of drilling programs.
- Prepare geological samples for laboratory analysis and interpret results.
- Assist in the generation of geological reports and presentations.
- Adhere to all company safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field (completed within the last 2 years).
- Strong foundational knowledge of geological principles and processes.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Demonstrated commitment to safety in all work environments.
- A valid Australian driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a geological field camp.
- Familiarity with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, MapInfo).
- Basic first aid certification.
- Experience with geological software packages (e.g., Leapfrog, Micromine) is a plus but not required.
