Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Butcher / Meat Cutter to join our dedicated team at Homeland Stores in Edmond, Oklahoma. This is a fantastic opportunity for an international professional with proven expertise in meat cutting and preparation who is looking for sponsorship via the Skilled Worker Visa Route. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing a variety of meat products, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met, and providing excellent customer service. You will be an integral part of our fresh foods department, contributing to our reputation for quality and community service. Key Responsibilities
- Perform skilled cutting, trimming, and deboning of various types of meat (beef, pork, poultry, lamb) according to company standards and customer requests.
- Prepare and display an attractive selection of fresh meat, poultry, and related products.
- Operate and maintain meat cutting equipment safely and efficiently, including saws, slicers, and grinders.
- Ensure proper sanitation and food safety practices are followed in all aspects of meat handling and preparation.
- Assist customers with product selections, provide cooking recommendations, and respond to inquiries.
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and minimize waste through careful cutting and rotation.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Train and mentor less experienced staff members as needed.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience as a Butcher or Meat Cutter.
- Expertise in knife handling, meat cutting techniques, and primal breakdown.
- Thorough knowledge of various meat cuts, their characteristics, and appropriate preparation methods.
- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations (HACCP principles a plus).
- Ability to operate and maintain standard meat processing equipment.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and work in a cold environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal culinary or butchery training/certification.
- Experience in a high-volume retail grocery environment.
- Proficiency in inventory management and ordering systems.
- Multilingual skills are a plus, especially Spanish.
