Job Description
We are actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Equine Veterinarian / Surgeon to join our dynamic team in Oceanside, CA. Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive equine physical examinations and diagnostic work-ups.
- Develop and implement treatment plans for various equine medical conditions.
- Execute a range of surgical procedures, from routine to complex, under direct or indirect supervision depending on experience.
- Provide emergency and critical care services on a rotating basis.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records.
- Communicate effectively with horse owners regarding diagnoses, prognoses, and treatment options.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure optimal patient care.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree.
- Eligibility for veterinary licensure in California (or ability to obtain).
- Minimum 2 years of post-graduate experience in equine practice, including surgical exposure.
- Proficiency in equine diagnostics (e.g., radiography, ultrasound).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Compassion and dedication to animal welfare.
Preferred Qualifications
- Board certification or eligibility for board certification in Equine Surgery.
- Experience with advanced imaging modalities (MRI, CT).
- Demonstrated experience in complex equine surgical procedures.
- Strong interest in research or contributing to veterinary literature.
- Previous experience working in a multi-doctor equine practice.
